Your testing questions
Safety, retest intervals, downtime and how quoting works.
Is test and tag mandatory for every office?
WorkSafe says test and tag is one way to check electrical equipment, rather than a blanket mandatory requirement. Equipment must still be electrically safe and maintained. Your situation may involve additional requirements; agree the appropriate approach for your workplace.
How often should equipment be tested?
There is no single interval for every workplace. Equipment type, use, environment and relevant requirements affect the plan. We discuss this when agreeing your scope.
Will equipment need to be turned off?
Some inspection and testing requires disconnection. We agree access and interruptions before the visit. Live servers and UPS systems may need a maintenance window or be deferred.
What happens if an item fails?
We record the result and notify your contact so the item can be removed from use. Repairs are outside this service and require an appropriately authorised provider.
Do you issue an electrical installation certificate?
No. Our agreed in-service testing records do not certify fixed wiring or an installation.
Can you work with our MSP?
Yes, by arrangement. Your nominated IT contact approves the shutdown and restoration plan, and confirms service health after the agreed work.
Our servers have dual power supplies. Can you test without downtime?
Not necessarily. Redundant supplies do not remove every dependency or risk, and dual feeds do not automatically make disconnection safe. We review power paths with your IT lead first; items that cannot be tested under the approved method are deferred rather than recorded as passed.
Is an after-hours appointment the same as a change window?
No. An after-hours appointment is not, by itself, an approved change window. Your IT lead must agree the work, shutdown plan and restoration checks for business-critical systems.
Can I book instantly?
No. We first confirm scope, availability and a written quote. Request a quote.
WorkSafe publishes guidance on testing and tagging electrical appliances. That guidance does not approve or endorse any particular provider.
